Ingredients:

  • 2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 finely chopped large onion
  • 2 finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2 green chopped chilies
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt as per taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Method:

  • Add oil and keep the pressure cooker on medium flame .
  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds after that add onions and green chilies.
  • Add ginger and garlic paste and tomatoes and fry for a minutes until they become soft.
  • Add turmeric, red chilies, coriander, cumin, and garam masala powder. fry for a minutes to let the spices blend well.
  • Add the potatoes and green peas. Mix properly to coat the vegetables with the spices.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium flame without using lid to let the vegetables absorb the flavors.
  • Add water and salt as par your taste. Mix well.
  • Cook for 1-2 whistles using lid.
  • leave the pressure to release naturally. After that open the lid and check the consistency of the curry If required add more water.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • Serve the delicious Aloo Matar Curry hot with rice, naan, or chapati.
