Aloo paratha recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Water, as needed

For the Potato Filling:

  • 2 large potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed
  • 1 finely chopped small onion
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt as per your taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaf, finely chopped
  • Ghee or oil for cooking

Method:

  • Add the whole wheat flour and salt in a pot.
  • Add water and knead the dough until it’s smooth and soft. leave the dough for 15-20 minutes.
  • In an another pot, add the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and chopped coriander leaf. mix everything to make the filling.
  • Divide the dough into equal parts and give shape them like a balls.
  • Take one dough ball and roll it into a small circle, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  • Place the potato filling in center of the rolled dough circle.
  • Fold the edges of the dough over the potato filling, make it to a stuffed ball.
  • Roll out the stuffed ball into a larger circle, about 7-8 inches in diameter. Use dry flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  • Heat a tawa or a non-stick pan over medium flam.
  • Place the rolled paratha on the hot griddle. Cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Flip the paratha and apply a teaspoon of ghee or oil on the cooked side.
  • Flip again and apply ghee or oil on the other side. Cook the paratha until it’s golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the aloo paratha from the griddle and place it on a plate.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
  • Serve the hot and delicious aloo parathas with yogurt, pickle, or your favorite chutney.
