Palak Panner Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of fresh spinach leaves (palak)
  • 200 grams of cubed paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee
  • 1 finely chopped large onion
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1-inch grated piece of ginger
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies
  • 2 finely chopped ripe tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tablespoons of cream
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Method:

  • Boil a pot of water and add the spinach leaves to it. Let them blanch for 2-3 minutes until they turn bright green.
  • Once the spinach is cooled, blend it into a smooth puree.
  • In the pan, add oil.
  • Add cumin seeds. After that Add the finely chopped onions, garlic, and green chilies. fry until the onions turn translucent.
  • Add turmeric, red chili, coriander powder and salt. fry for a couple of minutes until the spices.
  • Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
  • Add in the spinach puree and cook for a few minutes.
  • Gently add the paneer cubes to the gravy and let them simmer for a few minutes. If you doesn’t want too thick gravy you can add a little water.
  • Add the cream and garam masala. After you add a tablespoon of butter for extra richness. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Your creamy Palak Paneer is ready! Serve it hot with naan, roti, or rice.
