Pav sandwich recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 pav bread
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup boiled and mashed green peas
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped
  • 2-3 finely chopped green chilies
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
  • 1/4 cup green chutney
  • 1/4 cup sev
  • Lemon slice for serving

Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions and fry until they turn translucent over medium heat.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. mix well and fry for a minute.
  • Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and the oil separate.
  • Add the boiled mashed potatoes and mashed green peas. Mix well with the onion-tomato mixture.
  • Add salt and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • Slice each pav in half without cutting all the way through.
  • Apply butter to the inside of each pav and place them on a hot pan. Toast until they are golden brown.
  • Spread tamarind chutney on one side of the pav and green chutney on the other side.
  • Fill pav with the prepared potato and pea mixture.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and a sprinkle of sev for extra crunch.
  • Serve hot pav sandwich with lemon slice.
